Cameras -  We use cameras in order to document various visual anomalies, as well as to give us perspective of different areas in our research and reports.

Audio Recorders - We use audio recorders as a handy means of taking notes during our investigations.  It's much easier than a note pad.  It also serves to document potential EVPs (electronic voice phenomena) that some theorize are the voices of spirits.

Gauss Meters - These are devices designed to detect levels of electro-magnetic fields (EMF), as well as changes in those fields.  Some theorize that ghosts/spirits form as energy.  If this is true, theen they would logically produce such a field.  In addition, there have been scientific studies that suggest there is a possible connection between higher levels of EMF and mild hallucinations, similar to haunting experiences.  We sometimes use multiple gauss meters in an array around us to measure stationary EMF in multiple areas of the same room.

Ambient Thermometers - In addition to the theory that spirits are energy that can cause changes in EMF, some also theorize that spirits manifest by drawing energy through heat out of the air, thus causing surrounding areas to have cold spots.  We attempt to measure these.  It's  also an important tool insofar as attempting to determine when conditions might be conducive to fogging - breath in the air, fogging of camera lenses, or even just fog floating through the air.  All of these things can cause false positives.  We may sometimes set up multiple thermometers in the same room to measure temperatures across the room, which can vary.

Infrared Thermometers - Where ambient thermometers measure temperatures directly in the surrounding air, infrared thermometers measure surface temperatures of various objects.  This allows us to track temperatures along walls, doors, ceilings, etc.

Cigarette Lighters - As crude as it sounds, the simplest and cheapest form of gage on air drafts that might cause false positives on cold spots is a small flame from a lighter.

Hygrometer - This measures the relative humidity in the air. Coupled with the temperature, this is a pretty good indication for when conditions are right for fog, which can look pretty ghostly.

Motion Detectors - Motion detectors can be deployed both as an assurance that other people can not enter into areas where the team is not present during an investigation (causing potential false positives), but also might indicate paranormal activity.
