South Oklahoma City "Witch's House" 8/22/2007 Central Oklahoma
History: This house is located in a rural area of Oklahoma City. It is said that a woman who once lived in the house was accused of being a witch by neighbors and that the house was set ablaze, with her inside. According to the legend, the fire killed here there. Currently, there remains a concrete slab, a chimney, and the ruins of a wooden barn next to the house. Reports of footsteps, strange mists, glowing orbs, and other phenomena have been persistent to the location. The home was actually constructed in 1945 and was not destroyed at all, but was rather moved off its foundation to another part of the city in 1987. People actually still live in the house today. There are no records of a fire, a witch, or even hate crimes having occurred on the property to substantiate the story. A local film company has worked on a documentary about this property, and information about their project can be found here: http://www.witchvox.com/vn/vn_detail/dt_no.html?a=usok&id=13049. Out of respect for the privacy of the people living in the area, all details about the location, including photographs, have been withheld. Because there is nothing historical to substantiate the claims of the legend, no investigation of this site will take place. |
